Le Samurai Grant Awarded to Area III Adult Rider

Congratulations to Area III Adult Rider Krista Wilson, who organized a successful bit fitting clinic with an award from the USEA Le Samurai Grant to support education initiatives for USEA Adult Riders. The clinician, Florence Wetzel of www.trymybits.com, provided each rider with a questionnaire in advance, and during the clinic, Florence measured their horses' mouths for correct fit. Each rider then had opportunities to try different bits on their horses during flatwork and jumping while receiving individual feedback. Many thanks to Florence, to Krista, to Derek Strine of Barnstaple South for use of the wonderful facilities, and to the USEA Foundation for providing the funding for Area III Adult Riders.

Hear ye, hear ye. All Area III Adult Riders:

We have received approval to award up to 50 scholarships in Area III for approved educational activity.   Watch our website and facebook page for activities which have received approval.

If you know of an activity or what to host an activity which you think might fit, let me know.

Activity must be educational in purpose, open to all (not just your barn or group), and be sponsored by an approved Area Organization. See the details on this linked document.

The Scholarship is $50 per person, up to 10 per event, limited to 1 award every 12 months.

Let’s go learn something!

Cindy

Cheer on your TEAM at the 2022 American Eventing Championships!

We have four riders and five horses making the trek to Rebecca Farm, Montana for the American Eventing Championships, each competing in the ATC: Adult Team Challenge. The Area III council has voted to award $400 to each ATC rider to help with entries and stabling.

Heather Norman is competing in the Beginner Novice Division on TWO horses: Faldeus and Full Gallop’s Dolce.

Katherina Huenermann is taking Targaryen TWF to contest the Beginner Novice Division as well.

Jacqueline Slagle is taking Countdown at Cape for the Novice Rider Championships.

Cindy Kennedy (me) will be taking on the Training Rider Championships for the 3rd time on my long time parter (9 years) Third Times the Charm. Can’t wait to see how this turns out.

Please follow our path to Montana and stay tuned for results! I will be leaving on the 20th, taking the scenic route to Montana with my husband and three dogs. Competition starts on August 30th and goes through September 4th. Wish us all luck as we try to bring home the ribbons for Area III!

If anyone else is going, please let me know. We do have $250 in scholarship funds for Area III Adult Riders going who might not be on a team. First come first serve.

Hope to see you in Montana,

Cindy

2022 Adult Rider Clinics

A Ride-A-Test Clinic for Area III Adult Riders was held on April 23, 2022 at the Florida Horse Park and was a smashing success, with 22 participants! Instructors Jodi Ely and Lori Hoos provided expertise to help riders through dressage tests ranging from starter through intermediate. Many thanks to them, as well as Hallway Feeds and Micheline Jordan for sponsoring lunch, and Beth Joens, Jacqueline Bennett and Krista Wilson for volunteering as scribes. Many riders went on to school the XC course after their tests - just a terrific day for all at the Florida Horse Park.

Held Saturday, April 23rd, Florida Horse Park, Ocala
